Download SCOS Builder
SCOS Standard Public Beta is now available through SCOS Builder. SCOS Builder creates a bootable SCOS installation ISO from your own official Windows ISO.
SCOS does not include Windows. You must provide your own Windows ISO, and Windows activation remains separate from SCOS.
SCOS is independent and not affiliated with Microsoft, Valve, Steam, or any third-party launcher.

Have these ready before building and installing SCOS:
- Builder device: Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer to run SCOS Builder
- .NET: .NET Desktop Runtime matching the Builder release

oscdimg.exe - Windows ISO: An official Windows ISO provided by the user

Build a SCOS ISO
SCOS Builder creates the final SCOS installation ISO from your own Windows ISO.
- Download SCOS Builder from the GitHub release page.
- Extract the SCOS Builder release package.
- Open
SCOSBuilder.exe. - Select your Windows ISO.
- Select an output folder.
- Click Build SCOS ISO.
- Wait for SCOS Builder to download the official SCOS Build Package and create the final ISO.
Create a Bootable USB
When creating a bootable USB from a SCOS ISO, do not enable Windows installation customization options.
If your USB creation tool shows options such as bypassing TPM, Secure Boot, RAM requirements, creating a local account, disabling data collection, changing regional settings, or modifying Windows setup behavior, leave all of those options unchecked.
SCOS already includes its own unattended setup configuration. Extra customization options may conflict with SCOS setup files and cause the installation to fail or behave incorrectly.
Install SCOS Standard
SCOS installs as a separate Windows-based console environment. It does not modify your existing Windows installation unless you choose to install it over the same disk or partition.
⚠️ Important: Installing SCOS to a disk or partition can erase data. Back up everything important before you begin.
- Back up your data.
- Create a bootable USB from the SCOS ISO.
- Leave all USB creation customization options unchecked.
- Plug in Ethernet before starting setup if possible.
- Boot from the USB drive using your BIOS/UEFI boot menu.
- Select the target drive or partition for SCOS.
- Start installation and let SCOS setup finish.
After Installation
Daily Use
- SCOS Standard boots directly into Steam Big Picture / Steam Gamepad UI.
- Normal Windows desktop access is restricted in Standard.
- Sound settings may remain available when needed for audio device configuration.
- Keyboard and mouse are mainly useful for setup and troubleshooting; daily use is controller-first.
Current beta notes
- Time zone and internet clock sync improvements are planned for a future update.
- GPU driver update support is planned for a future update.
